The year is 2008. The UGG Research Institute does an experiment and attempts opening a portal to The Backrooms. However, the experiment goes horribly wrong, corrupting The Frontrooms leaving unstable surfaces, leading to the Backrooms unwillingly should someone fall down.
The player starts recording a vlog. He takes all his necessary equipment and is about to leave his house, when suddendly he falls through the floor and lands in the Backrooms, where there’s nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of monoyellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in, along with other areas that have yet to be explored.
The player has to make their way back to The Frontrooms, solving various puzzles on their journey.
